Local and regional performers are preparing for Bluffton's Play Music on the Porch Day (a.k.a. PorchFest) on August 29. This worldwide movement encourages people to spend the day outdoors, visiting with neighbors while playing or listening to music.
For a complete lineup and a map of where the bands will be playing, visit the event Facebook page.
Bonehead & Tayze
Two singers, Warnecke Bonehead and Tayze, will come together to perform at this year’s event. Kailey Warnecke, a 23-year-old country singer and songwriter who has written two songs, hails from Ottawa, Ohio. A sweet, young lady who has opened for some big-name artists, Tayze also records and writes all of her own music. The duo Bonehead and Tayze! will perform a little bit of country music mixed with hip hop!
The Rail Trails
This young indie rock and folk band consists of four friends who hail from West Toledo and Genoa. They have a talent for using unconventional instruments in genres they aren’t usually played in. They play interesting instruments like mandolin and bazooka. Their chemistry is what makes their gigs most captivating and fun. All the band members have been trained in music schools such as Toledo School for the Arts. The band consists of members: Blake Lehman, Cole Crofts, Zen Lewis, and Fin Stillwagon. Each player comes with a long list of experience and talents, including experience in music and audio engineering, a trumpet player in the Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestra, and playing in several different bands.
Lakeside Worship Band
A collective of musicians and vocalists from across Ohio comes together with one purpose, which is to lead people into authentic worship. The band serves at Lakeside Youth Camp, offering contemporary worship. This group is more than skilled music performers; they are passionate followers of Christ with the hope that their music points every audience toward Him. They have deemed it their mission to exist to help people experience the presence of God through music.
Deer Creek Pickers
A band that’s formed just to perform at PorchFest, this is a group of guys from the Monday evening guitar circle at the Bluffton Public Library. Bring your requests because they plan to play songs that everyone knows and can sing along. A couple of the band members can be seen occasionally playing at the Bluffton Farmer’s Market and the Senior Center.
