Pirate boys soccer blanks Lincolnview to clinch NWC crown

MIDDLE POINT__The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team shut out Lincolnview 5-0 to win yet another Northwest Conference championship on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The Pirates improved to 7-5-3 overall and finished 3-0 in the NWC after the road win that clinched yet another league crown in the four-team standings.

Bluffton has never lost an NWC match and has claimed all 12 league championships since the sport became a conference sport in 2015.

The Lancers fell to 2-8-1 overall and 1-2 in NWC play after the home defeat.

Bluffton scored first half on a goal by Gavin Amstutz at the 4:57 mark off an assist by Will Steiner.

Carter Steinmetz scored at the 16:10 mark to provide a 2-0 lead. Chase Kelly extended the lead to 3-0 with a goal at the 18:27 point.

Amstutz netted his second goal at the 34:02 juncture to put the Pirates ahead 4-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Pirate Weston Johnstone scored the final goal with 34:26 remaining.

Bluffton outshot Lincolnview, 18-2.
