Plenty of action at Oct 10 Dillinger robbery reenactment and motorcycle show

On Saturday, October 10, the Bluffton Ohio Historical Society is staging an 11:55 a.m. reenactment of the 1933 robbery of Citizens National Bank by John Dillinger and his gang. The event will also include a 10 a.m.-2 p.m. motorcycle show and will be attended by riders from Joe Bayliff's Route 30 Harley-Davidson on their annual Wake the Dead Motorcycle Ride. At 2:00 p.m. at the Bluffton Senior Center, area residents will share accounts of Dillinger gang activity.

LOUD NOISE ADVISORY: The 11:55 robbery reenactment will include loud firecracker noises.

WOODEN NICKELS: Get locked up in the Dillinger cell if you think you can make bail (a donation) and get a commemorative wooden nickel.

8:00 a.m.

  • Allen County jail cell that housed Dillinger parked at the Farmers Market

9:00 a.m. 

  • Streets to be closed: Main St from Town Hall to Chase Bank; Church St from Main to Jackson; Vine Street and Cherry Street from Main to alley.
  • Motorcyclists start arriving and parking on Main St
  • PA system will be playing music, along with regular announcements about reenactment and sponsors

10:00 a.m.

  • Motorcycle Show and judging begins

10:30 a.m.

  • Classic cars parking on Church St.

11:30 a.m.

  • Wake the Dead motorcycle group arrives with police escort on Main St.

11:55 a.m.

  • Dillinger reenactment outside Citizens National Bank, 102 S. Main

12:30 p.m.

  • Awards for motorcyclists
  • Eat and shop downtown. Dillinger book on sale at BOHS tent

1:00 p.m.

  • "Tell YOUR Dillinger story" with Kevin Gratz at Senior Citizens Center

2-2:30 p.m.

  • Streets reopen
