Event is June 10

We invite direct vendors, hand-made craft vendors, and local small businesses that would like to show off their talents and products during the Saturday, June 10 Harrod Summer Spectacular, according to Brock Ackerman of the festival committee.

This year's show is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Harrod Community Center.

Proceeds support Community Assistance Program

The first-ever community chili cook-off is Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Bluffton Middle School Cafetorium. 

Local “chefs” are preparing their favorite chili recipes for the community to judge. A $5 tasting fee includes a sample of each chili and a drink; other items for sale include hot dogs, shredded chicken sandwiches, chips and baked goods. 

All proceeds benefit Bluffton Community Assistance programs.  

The cook-off is planned by the mission committee of Bluffton Presbyterian Church with help from several other congregations. 

Gardeners of Bluffton and Pandora Area offer several programs

Like many Icon viewers, Victoria Zeits of the Gardeners of Bluffton and Pandora says that the crazy winter weather makes her feeel that either winter has yet to begin or she  should instead be watching for spring bulbs to start blooming.

She says that she's visited her herb garden and observed 14 green things coming up that should be under a couple inches of snow.

Despite the weather, there are several opportunities for gardeners to get moving in anticipation of spring.

Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8374 Phillips Road, Bluffton, will hold a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 10.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for youth 10 and under.

Held in conjunction with SHANNON Service Club's sale at The Centre

Bluffton Senior Center, 132 N. Main St., will hold its annual garage sale Thursday, Feb. 23 and Friday, Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon, according to Tonya Meyer, director.

This large fundraiser for the Senior Center is held in February to coincide with the SHANNON Club community garage sale at The Centre.

That sale is Friday, Feb. 24 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The duo The Rough & Tumble from Nashville, will perform twice in Bluffton during February, according to Wendy Chappell-Dick,

They will perform at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25, in the Bluffton town hall during a Town Hall Concert Series performance.

They will also perform during brunch at The Mustard Seed, Sunday, Feb. 26. Both performances are free and open to the public.

The Rough & Tumble has been on the road since April 2015. Musicians Mallory Graham and Scott Tyler share their 16-foot camper with dogs Butter and Pud as they tour nationwide.
