The Bluffton High School girls varsity softball team was seeded fourth at the Elida district Div. IV sectional drawing Sunday.

The Lady Pirates (8-7) will host ninth seed Lima Central Catholic Monday, May 9. Bluffton nipped LCC 3-2 at home on April 7.

The victor advances to the sectional second round May 12 against the winner between fifth seed Coumbus Grove and 13th seed Hardin Northern. 

The game will be held at the highest seeded team of the four sectional semifinalists.

The Bluffton University softball team traveled to Lexington, Ky., for its final games of the 2022 season. Transylvania squeaked out a 6-5 victory in the lidlifter before staking its claim to first place in the Heartland Conference with a 15-0 mercy-rule win in game two.

The Bluffton High School varsity softball team lost to visiting Lincolnview 15-6 in a Northwest Conference makeup game Saturday afternoon, April 30.

The Lady Pirates trailed just 7-6 after a high-scoring first three innings.

But the defending league champion Lancers plated six runs in the fourth frame, and added five more in the fifth to pull away.

The Bluffton High School baseball team lost 5-4 to visiting Delphos Jefferson in a Northwest Conference makeup contest Friday night, April 29.

Bluffton hosts Arlington (6-8) in a non-league doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m. They then host Columbus Grove (12-3, 2-2 NWC) in a conference contest Monday, May 2.

The Bluffton High School varsity softball team lost to visiting Delphos Jefferson 14-3 in a Northwest Conference makeup game Friday evening, April 29.

DJ plated six runs in both the second and seventh innings to upset Bluffton.

The Wildcats led 8-0 after three frames. The Pirates scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the sixth to inch within 8-3. But then DJ put the game away with six more runs in the seventh.

Jessa Rostorfer slammed a two-run homer in the seventh, and also doubled for the Wildcats.

The Bluffton University men's golf team struggled with its short game on day one of the Heartland Conference championships. The Beavers stand in 7th place, but they are still firmly within striking distance of Mount St. Joseph and Franklin heading into round two.

Senior Spencer Daniels (Ashland) carried the torch on Friday, shooting an 81 which placed him in a tie for 19th place. Two strokes back is reigning HCAC Player of the Week Nathan Eberle (Grove City).
