Speedy Tyson Shutler led the Pirates with 114 yards rushing on 10 carries

COLUMBUS GROVE - The visiting Bluffton football team lost at  league co-champion Columbus Grove 49-0 in the Northwest Conference and regular season finale on a cold Friday night.

Strong-armed CG junior quarterback Blake Reynolds passed for six touchdowns, four to wideout Alex Schneider, to pace the Bulldog offense to victory.

Grove scored 14 points in each of the first three periods to win going away. The tough CG defense posted its second straight shutout and gave up just 80 points in seven league contests.

DEFIANCE - The Bluffton boys soccer team outlasted number one-ranked Ottawa Hills 4-2 in penalty kicks after a double overtime epic in Div. III regional final action at Defiance Saturday evening.

The Pirate upset victory, their sixth match win in a row, improved their season record to 17-2-2. State poll regular season champion Ottawa Hills ended their campaign 16-3-2 after the defeat.

SANDUSKY - The Bluffton boys soccer team outlasted Fairview Park 2-1 in a double overtime epic marathon in Div. III regional semifinal play at Sandusky Perkins High School on a rainy, chilly Wednesday evening.

The dramatic win upped the Pirate season record to 16-2-2. Bluffton advances to the regional finals vs. top-ranked Ottawa Hills (15-2-2) Saturday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. at Defiance High School.

BHS 2 - Fairview 1 - in two overtimes

Bluffton High School boys' soccer team defeated a determined Fairview team 2-1 in the Division III regional semi-finals tonight in Sandusky.

TIFFIN - The youthful Bluffton boys cross country team finished 22nd in the 23-team Div. III regional meet at Tiffin's Hedges-Boyer Park on a cool, wet Saturday morning.

New London won the boys team title with 68 points. Sandusky St. Mary's Central Catholic was second with 125 points, followed by Hopewell-Loudon (164) in third.

Holgate (192) came in fourth, followed by Minster (203), Ashland Crestview (204) and Liberty Center (209).    

Bluffton finishes season on the road Friday at Grove

SPENCERVILLE - The visiting Bluffton football team was blanked 35-0 at league co-leader Spencerville in a Northwest Conference blowout Friday night.

Coming off their first league loss, the angry Bearcats stormed to 21 first-period points and tallied 14 more in the second quarter to provide all the points on the night.

The rugged Spencerville defense limited Bluffton to just 49 total yards, while the Bearcat offense rolled up 381 yards. It was the first shutout of the season for both teams.
