Jonathan Larson, who collaborated on an ABC documentary about his friend, Dan Terry, an aid worker killed in Afghanistan in 2010, will be the speaker for Bluffton University’s Spiritual Life Week forum on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Larson, who has also written an account of his childhood friend’s peacemaking work and death, is taking the place of Cyneatha Millsaps, who was scheduled to speak but is unable to come. Beginning at 11 a.m. in Founders Hall, Larson’s presentation is free and open to the public.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team took advantage of a red card on Defiance's keeper midway through period one, but the Yellow Jackets continued to grind and it paid off as rival Defiance headed back north with its first Heartland Conference victory of the season, 2-1 in double overtime. The Beavers slipped to 0-12-2 overall and 0-4-2 in the HCAC following a third straight double overtime contest. Defiance moved to 5-9-1 and 1-4-1 in the conference.

“When are you going to write something original?”

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team bounced back from a heartbreaking 3-2 loss at HCAC-leading Franklin last Saturday with a convincing 3-0 shutout of Defiance College on a beautiful Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Sears Complex. The Beavers improved to 7-8 on the season while evening their mark in the Heartland Conference at 3-3. Defiance dropped to 2-13 overall and 1-5 in the HCAC.

Representatives from across the spectrum of Mennonite education gathered at Bluffton University Oct. 16-18 for a conference on the network’s past, present and future.

The weekend event attracted 120 attendees, from elementary schools to colleges and including presidents, scholars, teachers and graduates.

Alex Parker came to Bluffton University in 2012 with a deep voice and a dream.

OK, maybe not a dream, at least when it came to his voice. “I didn’t think it would do anything for me,” says the senior from Alger, Ohio.

But his time at Bluffton has changed his opinion, as he approaches graduation with experience acquired both on stage and in radio, where his career thoughts are leaning.
