National Night Out, Bluffton pool, 6-9 p.m.

National Night Out is held from 6-9 p.m. with free pool admission all day.

The Bluffton Police Department, in conjunction with the Pandora Police Department, sponsor NNO. Bluffton and Beaverdam-Richland Township Fire and EMS Departments also participate.

There will be food, giveaways, fire truck displays and rides, face painting, bounce houses, live music and an opportunity to meet local safety service personnel.

The goal for this event is for local law enforcement agencies to interact with their community members in a positive, fun environment while educating them on personal and community safety.

Fireworks conclude the evening, at dusk (approximately 9:45 p.m.).

According Matt Oglesbee, police department lieutenant, who chairs the event, “Last year we had a great turnout with approximately 2,500 people present. We served approximately 2,400 hot dogs, 800 bags of chips, and 2,600 cans of pop and bottles of water.

“We are hoping to have just as many if not more people attend this year. We are making plans to be able to serve food, drinks, and snacks for 2,500 people again this year.”

Bluffton has been holding the annual National Night Out since 2014 in conjunction with the Pandora Police Department. The National Night Out is an annual event which occurs on the first Tuesday in August across the country.
