The Freed Center presents The Magic School Bus Feb. 15

The Freed Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Ohio Northern University presents The Magic School! The performance for the general public will be Wednesday, Feb.15, at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets may be purchased at www.freedcenter.com or by calling the box office at 419-772-1900. To receive a complimentary tickets with the purchase of an adult ticket, please mention the following code when ordering. (Code: TMSB2)

Bingo night in March will support Bluffton Relay for Life

The February Bluffton Relay for Life newsletter is now available to Icon viewers. The newsletter provides several updates of this year's event. Bluffton's relay is June 22-23.

A Bingo night, hosted by the Village Cut 'N' Curl team is planned from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, March 2, in the middle school. Details on that event and several others are part of the newsletter.

Concentus, select community choir, performs Feb. 12 in Bluffton, Feb. 26 in Findlay

Concentus, a select community choir, will be performing a benefit choral concert on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall at Bluffton University and Sunday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Findlay First Presbyterian Church.

This choir, formed in the fall of 2003, will present a program of songs with the theme Alélouya: Let The Whole World Sing. The first half of the program will include choruses from major works, often including a variation of the “Alleluia” text.

BHS Ladies First performs for Feb. 8 senior breakfast

Bluffton High School's Ladies First Choir will perform during the February senior citizens breakfast at the Bluffton middle school. Kara Zink directs the choir. The breakfast is at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the cafetorium. The event is free to senior residents of the Bluffton school district.

March 30 college fair at Owens, Toledo

 Collegiate Employ-Net, a consortium of 16 colleges and universities in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, will host its annual career fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, March 30 in the Owens Community College gymnasium.

Job seekers holding a certificate or degree from any accredited college or university are invited to attend this free event. Professional attire is required.

"Red Tails" shown at Shannon Feb. 3 - 9

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "Red Tails" (PG-13) is showing at the theatre from February 3 - 9.

Show times follow:

Each evening at 7:00 and 9:30 PM with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 and 4:00 PM.

Bridge Hospice presents “Consider the Conversation” documentary Feb. 16

Bridge Hospice is presenting “Consider the Conversation,” a documentary designed to teach men and women how to talk to their loved ones about end-of-life care. The event will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Hancock County Agency on Aging, 339 East Melrose Ave., Findlay.

Free events for community continue at BFR - something for everyone

The fourth week of BFR’s Keeping Active Wellness Campaign includeS more free walking days, free fitness classes and recreation options and a special event for Healthy Hearts, according to Carole Enneking, director. 

Here's the schedule:

Thursday, Feb. 2 will feature a free session of the Strength & Flexibility exercise class at 10 am. Saturday, Feb. 4 will feature a free session of Zumba Dance Fitness class at 9 am.

Celebrate "all things chocolate" Feb. 16 at The Inn at ONU

What better way to celebrate February then with “All Things Chocolate.” From 3:30 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, The Inn at ONU is offering a high tea featuring teas, finger sandwiches, pastries and even The Inn's popular chocolate fountain.

Jan. 31 open house gives students-parents taste of Apollo Career Center

Tuesday, Jan. 31, (snow date Feb. 1) parents and students are invited to explore Apollo and its programs during an open house, 5:30-7 p.m. 

This open house is for ninth and tenth grade students and their parents, but the open house is also open to the public, and anyone interested in learning more about Apollo.

Instructors and staff will be available to provide information and answer questions.
