Farmer's market opening day is May 1
Can't you just taste the strawberries, the jams, the rolls, and smell the flowers? The eighth season of Bluffton's popular farmer's market prepares for opening day, Saturday, May 1, according to Peter Previte, unofficial chair of this favorite Bluffton pastime.
This year's market will take place in its familiar location - the parking lot between Citizens National Bank and the post office. The market opens at 8:30 a.m. and runs until noon, no matter the weather conditions, from May 1 to the final Saturday in October.
Previte says that based on previous years, he expects the market should average between 18 and 21 vendors each week with a maximum of 30 vendors tops.
Shoppers can expect lots of seasonal items at the market. In May, vendors will probably have a variety of flowers and shrubs, and homemade products like jams, jellies and breads. As vegetables ripen a variety of green produce will appear on the stands.
Previte estimates Bluffton's farmer's market normal crowd brings 200 persons to downtown. Persons interested in being a vendor should contact Previte at 419-634-2202. His home address is 405 N. Main St., Ada, OH 45810. Vendors have a weekly charge to sell items at the market. No advance sign-up is necessary.
