I am really confused. The town cut a full time position due to financial reasons. But then I go to the pool and see that they have signs posted they they are putting in a sprinkler system in 2011. I thought there was no money. I've also heard that they plan on annexing part of North Dixie Highway. How are they paying for that? And what about the Spring Street bridge? It would great to have it fixed, but we've done without it for several years. There's money to do these things but not pay an employee. I'm not a financial wiz, but something doesn't seem right here.
Financially Confused
Yes, you heard right~Dixie is going to be annexed in. WE are paying for the unwanted city sewer system. The cost is to be around $15 to $20,000 each resident (unless that is going to change yet again~we have gone from just a couple thousand to "i don't know" to this amount). Will be cheaper if they FORCE (like some of us are being done) the other side of Dixie in on this costly adventure. Then we get to come up with the money to have our septics drained, collasped and filled back in again. Don't even talk about the cost to the landscaping!
Are you overjoyed you don't live on our road?
I have oftened wondered why there isn't the money to build a new school when there are so many grants available. Those poor kids and staff members are suffering in the heat of the classrooms all so this town doesn't have to come up a solution that could cost a little bit of money (isn't that what we pay school tax, property taxes and levies for?)to MODERNIZE our EXCELLENT RATED SCHOOL SYSTEM. Our school has an excellent rating for 2010 but we have school buildings that was built in the 1900s (yes, please feel free to correct my dates).
But, it is another thing where this town finds money for things that are not a benefit to EVERYONE. And, a job was eliminated and though the job is gone, I am sure that there is unemployment benefits being paid~all out of the same account that couldn't keep her as an employee.
So, financially confused, you are not alone in that thinking. Many things don't add up. Like the water deal with Ottawa......But that is another story.
Don't you think the resevoir made this town a nice place to walk and enjoy fishing??? (read sarcasim into that please)
