Bluffton athletes competes at Findlay Classic

The Bluffton University men's and women's track and field team competed in day one of the two-day Findlay Classic Invitational, hosted by the University of Findlay on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012.

The women's distance medley relay led the Bluffton Beavers on day one by running a time of 13:21.14, which smashed the school record by 20 seconds and placed fourth overall.

Sophomore Brandi Dominique (Wauseon) ran the first l200 meters of the relay, with sophomore Kayla Mullenhour (Delphos/Jefferson) running the second leg of 400 meters, followed by freshman Claire McConnell (Spencerville) handling the 800-meter leg.

Junior Maddie Moore (Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams) anchored the relay with the 1600-meter leg.

Also highlighting day one for the Beavers were junior Alison Janzen (Whitewater, Kan./Remington) who ran a lifetime best in the 5,000 meters with a time of 20:06.14, senior Andy Chaffee (Clarkston, Mich.) also ran a lifetime personal record in the 5,000 meters with a time 16:47.60, and freshman Jeff Parker (Bristol, Ind./Northridge) who threw a lifetime best in the weight throw with a toss of 35-10.50.

The Bluffton track and field team returns to the University of Findlay on Saturday, Jan. 28, to compete in day two of the Findlay Classic.
