Three Bluffton University students to perform junior recital Sunday

Vocalists Jonathan Luginbill and Kim Rupert, along with composer and saxophonist Scott Troyer, all juniors in the Bluffton University music department, will present a recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 15, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public; a reception will follow in the lobby.

Luginbill is a baritone from Bluffton. He will perform numbers by Handel, Schumann and musical theatre's Stephen Sondheim, among others. Luginbill is a voice student of Dr. Mark Suderman, professor of music.

Rupert's program includes pieces by Mozart, Brahms and contemporary Christian composer Mark Hayes. A soprano from Ottawa, Ohio, she is a voice student of Dr. Crystal Sellers, assistant professor of music.

Portions of Troyer's composition, "Vignettes," will be performed by an ensemble whose members include five Bluffton students and Dr. Jeffrey Boehm, a professor of music and Troyer's composition instructor. Troyer, from Sugarcreek, Ohio, will also present three numbers on the alto saxophone, on which he is a student of Dr. Adam Schattschneider, professor of music.

Anya Stembler-Smith and Allison Ringold will be the accompanists for the recital, which is designed to help students prepare for their senior recitals.
