Richard "Butch" Gladwell was retired from Mid-Bus

Richard M. "Butch" Gladwell, 75, of Columbus Grove died at He was born May 26, 1940, in Lima to the late Glenn and Margaret Smith Gladwell.  On Aug. 4, 1961 he married Virginia Williams and she survives.

He retired from Mid-Bus formerly of Bluffton.  He was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton, where he had been Sunday School Superintendent, youth leader and coached the church basketball and baseball teams. 

He donated and prepared fish for Wild Game Night at Ebenezer Church for 14 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping.

Survivors also include four children, Judy (Dan) Gillett, John (Jane) Gladwell, and Paul (Ann) Gladwell, all of Columbus Grove, Leah (Todd) Johnson of Pandora, 10 grandchildren,  Andrea Gossard,  Matthew Gillett, Amelia Gladwell, Tom Gladwell, Aaron Gladwell,  Emily Gladwell,  Seth Gladwell,  Amber Gladwell,  Drew Johnson,  and Ryan Johnson,  two great grandchildren,  Levi Gossard and Aubrey Swartz,  and two sisters, Ruth Williams of Lima and Gladys Phillips of Lafayette.  

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Gillett,  a brother, Bob Gladwell and a sister, Tooey Stoodt.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton.  Revs. Dick Potter and James King will officiate. 

Burial will be in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Crossroads Center at Ebenezer Mennonite Church and one hour prior to the service at the church.
