Aelker named HCAC Player of Week

September 14, 2015

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University senior defensive end Ryan Aelker (New Bavaria/Holgate) led the Beavers to their first ever win over Baldwin Wallace and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on defense for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 13. It was also Bluffton's first game on the new turf at Alumni Field.

In the 38-26 win, Aelker tallied a team-high eight tackles, including two sacks for 25 yards. His 17-yard sack stuffed Baldwin Wallace on a third and 13 early in the second quarter and his eight-yard sack with just over 1:30 to play solidified the win for Bluffton.

Bluffton (1-1, 0-0 HCAC) will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 26 at home against Franklin. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m. as the Grizzlies make their first trip back to Bluffton since the Beavers stunned Franklin 24-17 on Senior Day in 2013!
