Exe director of The Mennonite, Inc., Forum speaker March 15

Hannah Heinzekehr, executive director of The Mennonite, Inc., will present her speech titled “Tending the Wild Space: My Journey Toward Understanding Sexism and Other Oppressions” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, in Founders Hall.

Heinzekehr will explore her own journey of discovering and navigating sexism in the workplace, and explain how understanding the ways that sexism operated, provided a window for her to learn about other forms of systemic oppression— racism, classism, heterosexism—as well.

Heinzekehr graduated from Bluffton University in 2007 with a communications in church organization degree and holds a master’s in theology and religious education from Claremont (Calif.) School of Theology.

Prior to joining the staff of The Mennonite, Heinzekehr served as the director of communications and convention planning coordinator for Mennonite Church USA’s Executive Board staff. She also worked as a church relations associate and writer for Mennonite Mission Network.

Heinzekehr, her husband Justin and their two young children, live in Newton, Kan., where they attend New Creation Fellowship Church.

This event is free and open to the public.
