Six Bluffton musicians in Lima Area Youth Orchestra
Six Bluffton musicians will perform with this year's Lima Area Youth Orchestra.
The orchestra will present its “Finale” concert on Sunday, April 22, at 7 p.m. in the Lima Senior High School Auditorium.
Bluffton members of the orchestra follow:
• Violins: Amanda Speicher, Ana Neufeld Weaver
• Viola: Lily Shadle
•Celli: Grace Paquin, Alyssa Speicher
• Bass: Lauren Speicher
This will be under the direction of Dr. Travis Juergens, conductor and music director fo the orchestra. He is renowned for his conducting across the United States and is the Symphony Orchestra director at Ohio Northern University.
Unique to this concert, two pieces written by former members of the orchestra will be performed.
They are “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” by Dana Wieging and “Song (2017) by Scott Turner.
Other works performed will be Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 6,” Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Procession of the Nobles,” Wagner’s “Grand March” from “Tannhauser,” Schubert’s “Rosamunde Overture,” Tschaikowsky's “Romeo and Juliet Overture” and Dvorak’s “Slavonic Dance No. 3.”
The Youth Orchestra is sponsored by the Lima Noon Optimist Club and the Lima Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets are available at the door which will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. performance.
