University CC and track coaches retire

Search is on for Karen Brandt, Jim Brandt replacements

Bluffton University is searching for a new head coach for its cross country and track and field programs following the retirement of Head Coach Karen Brandt and her assistant coach, Jim Brandt, at the end of June.

“We appreciate Karen and Jim’s leadership since taking over the program in 2011. During that time their teams have shown tremendous growth in both depth and talent.

"They have directed three All-American performances, two HCAC cross country champions and the 2016 Heartland Conference Female Athlete of the Year. Nearly 100 school records have been set during their tenure. Their athletes have also garnered numerous academic awards over the past seven years."

“We wish Karen and Jim all the best during their transition into retirement,” said Phill Talavinia, Bluffton’s athletics director. “We will begin the search for a new coach in the coming weeks.”
