You can decorate your cake and eat it, too
Viewers are invited to an open house from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 20. You may check out cake decorating albums, have refreshments and learn about decorating class options.
You can now decorate your cake and eat it, too, thanks to Debra Stockford “the cake queen.”
Stockford of Pandora will open The Frosting Studio in Tommy’s Plaza, 142 E. Jefferson St., Bluffton, with a Monday evening open house.
There she will offer cake-decorating classes for all skill levels.
“I owned a bakery and have over 30 years of cake decorating experience,” she said about her business.
“I have a passion for cake decorating and decided to open a business to help others,” she added.
Classes are available for all skill levels and each carries an interesting title. For example:
• What’s a spatula?
• Level 2, please
• Fon-daunte, Fon-due-what?
• Artsy fartsy
• Here comes the bride
• ‘Tis the season (includes every season with cupcakes decorated in this class)
Stockford’s classes are two-hours each. She provides the cake, icing, decorations, tools and step-by-step instructions. So, as she says, “Don’t bring anything to class and you’ll go home with a cake.”
She adds that classes are small, with seven or less in a session.
During her bakery career the cake queen admits that she has no idea the number of cakes she’s decorated.
“I’ve decorated hundreds and hundreds,” she said. “These include cakes for weddings, baby showers, holidays, first communion, birthdays and other special occasions.”
To sign up for a class, viewers may call, text or e-mail.
