Bluffton Paving purchases Fritchie Asphalt & Paving Co.
The Gerken Company of Napoleon has purchased the assets of M&R Redi-Mix, Inc. of Pettisville, Ohio.
The purchase was effective Jan. 1, 2019. Gerken is known for its asphalt paving services and production and now adds concrete ready mix production to its list of services.
This new division will be known as M&R Redi-Mix Trucking, Inc., and will continue to operate from its Pettisville, McClure and Stony Ridge locations. Gerken has been a longstanding Henry County business now employing over 400 employees in northwest Ohio and southeastern Michigan.
Bluffton Paving purchase
In addition, Gerken’s southern subsidiary, Bluffton Paving, Inc., has purchased the assets of Lima paving staple, Fritchie Asphalt & Paving Co.
The purchase was effective Jan. 16, 2019, and adds 10 professional paving employees who have provided paving services to Lima and surrounding communities.
May marks the 30th year anniversary for Bluffton Paving, Inc., and 30 years that the Gerken family has owned and operated The Bluffton Stone Company. The asphalt production plant in the quarry is actually owned by Gerken Materials, Inc., which celebrates 60 years in March.
