Bluffton school board interviews candidates May 29 and May 30

Kyle Leatherman, Bluffton middle school principal, announced his resignation from the Bluffton Schools, effective this summer.

He has accepted a position as principal of Liberty Benton Middle School, starting on Aug. 1.  Prior to coming to Bluffton, he was a teacher at Gibsonburg from 2007 to 2013. He is a Heidelberg College graduate and obtained his principal licensure in Education from the University of Findlay.

“This is a family decision,” he told the Icon. “My family lives in the Liberty Benton school district.”

Leatherman is in his sixth year as middle school principal at Bluffton. In 2017 he was named Ohio Middle Level Association (OMLA) “Educator of the Year.”

The Bluffton school board will hold an executive session at 6 p.m. this evening (May 29) to interview middle school principal candidates.

 A second executive session for the same purpose is set for 7 p.m., Thursday, May 30.
