Brad Dailey joins Bluffton school board

Board updates several policies

Brad Dailey joined the Bluffton School board on Nov. 18. He replaces Brad Fruchey, who announced his resignation in October. Dailey's term runs through Dec. 31, 2021.

Fruchey served on the board for 18 years. He resigned due to his purchased of Riley Creek Sportswear, which presents a conflict of interest for him as a board member.

In other board business, supplemental contracts  were issued to three volunteer assistant middle school wrestling coaches (Zachary Wilson, Jeremiah Weyer and Michael Nuzum) and Chris Ackerman was issued a contract as head eighth grade boys’ basketball coach.

Joanna Gratz was issued substitute contracts as a cafeteria work, educational aide and secretary.

Megan Meyer, an Ohio Northern University student, was approved for a student teaching assignment from Jan. 13 to May 3, with Dina Tadena.

The board renewed its agreement with the North Central Ohio Education Services Center for 2019-20.

Policy updates were approved covering:
• Student wellness program
• No tobacco use on district property by staff members
• Remedial instruction
• Class ranking (selection of valedictorian and salutatorian)
• Graduation requirements
• Truancy
• Tobacco use by students
• No tobacco use on district property.
