Hanover College wins HCC women’s all-sports title

Hanover College was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Women's All-Sports Champion following the 2019-20 campaign. The Panthers accumulated 62.3 points in the standings to garner the award, capturing their ninth overall women's title.

The Panthers had a strong fall to ignite their chase to the Women's All-Sports title, with runners up finishes in the regular season standings in women's tennis, women's cross country, women's soccer and women's volleyball, while capturing a regular season crowns in women's basketball and indoor track and field in the winter season. The Red and Blue also finished fourth in swimming and women's golf.

Lynn Hall, Vice President for Athletics, leads the Hanover athletic department.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology narrowly beat out Transylvania University for the second slot in the women's standings with 54.47 points while the Pioneers took third with 54.33 points. Franklin College finished in fourth with 48.49 points while Anderson University rounded out the top five with 39.32 points. Manchester University (32.64), Earlham College (32.15) Mount St. Joseph University (27.98), Bluffton University (26.81) and Defiance College (14.66) rounded out the standings.

The award has been handed out to the most successful women's athletic department in the conference since 1994 when the conference was known as the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference.                        

There are 11 women's sports sponsored by the HCAC and HCLC. The women compete in tennis, golf, soccer, cross country, volleyball, basketball, swimming and diving, softball, lacrosse, and indoor/outdoor track & field. Teams earn points for their institution by placing in each sport's championship. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, championships were unable to be held for the spring sports.
