8 Beavers on D3football.com Team of the Week

The Bluffton University football team placed eight players on the D3football.com Team of the Week for their performances against Adrian College on Saturday, Oct. 24.

This is the 22nd season that D3football.com has selected the Team of the Week, which honors the top player nationally at each position from the previous week.

In this case, D3football.com considered all of the games played this fall for one award in 2020.

Darian Greeley (Belleville, Mich./Chippewa Valley) put up the 2nd most rushing yards ever for a Beaver. His 297 yards on 42 carries trails only Mike Goings who holds the all-time mark of 314 against Alma in 1962.

His 42 carries were also the most ever recorded for a Beaver. Greeley went for three touchdowns in Bluffton's victory on Saturday after rolling up 171 yards on the ground in the first half.

The offensive line - Markus Finley (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North), Cade McClellan (Edgerton), Dustin Massie (London), Zack Jaksa (Sterling, Heights, Mich./Parkway Christian), Hunter Lacer (Oak Harbor) - paved the way for 372 yards on the ground which were the most since 2011 when Bluffton ran for 381 at Defiance.

The Beavers controlled the ball for nearly 34 minutes, racking up 28 first downs, including 21 on the ground. Adrian pulled within a score at the 4:33 mark, but Greeley and his road graders were more than up to the task as he took seven straight handoffs to extinguish the clock as Bluffton downed Adrian for the first time since 1977.

Defensive lineman Dana Shoulders II (Mansfield/Lexington) had two and a half tackles for loss among his seven tackles in Bluffton's 28-21 win against Adrian. He had a crucial TFL of Adrian's standout running back Steven Moses in the fourth quarter that forced a Bulldog punt on a day when Moses went for 159 yards.

Stephan Kosakowski (Cleveland/Benedictine) had eight total tackles, including four solos, and a forced fumble, from his safety position. Kosakowski finished third on the team with 66 tackles en route to his second straight Honorable Mention All-HCAC award as a junior in 2019.

It marked the first D3football.com Team of the Week awards for Bluffton since Jake Harmon was honored in week two of 2016 when he forced a fumble and recovered two, all on Trine's first three possessions, as the Beavers stunned Trine 37-31 on the road.
