Backyard Habitats presented by Dan Hodges of Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District at the Library

Backyard Habitats, a presentation by Dan Hodges of Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District will be held on July 17 at 6 p.m.

With less than 10% of land in Allen County in any semblance of natural area, our rich natural history is in danger of becoming just that – history. Join Naturalist Dan Hodges for a sampling of what the natural world in this area has to offer, and learn a little about how you can participate -- even in your own backyard!

Participants may speak with Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.

The day the zoo came to town

And along came sea urchines, sea stars, a hedgehog and lots more

Photos and story by
Lauren Canaday

The Toledo Zoo came to the Bluffton Public Library on Monday.

Youth attending the program met sea urchins, crabs, sea stars, a hedgehog, a Silkie Chicken rooster, and a Virgin Islands tree boa snake.

"The Bluffton community definitely loves to learn about animals, and it showed yesterday because we had over 150 attendees."
