Ten Thousand Villages collects clothing for homeless women

Bluffton store and University Women’s Circle group help Hope House

Great things can happen when people come together to help people within their own community get back on their feet. During the month of March, Ten Thousand Villages in Bluffton, along with Bluffton University’s Women’s Circle group, collected eight large bags full of professional clothing for Hope House, women’s housing service in Findlay.

Stratton Greenhouses spring open house this weekend

It's time to get serious about spring flowers and veggies.

Stratton's Greenhouses will hold a spring open house Friday, April 29, through Sunday, May 1, at the greenhouses located at 9915 Lincoln Highway, Bluffton.

According to Susie and Steve Stratton, "We have an entire line of vegetables, proven winner plants, wave petunias, trees and shrubs for all your landscaping needs."

The open house includes drawings, food and special offers.

Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Co. expanding to Lima

Bluffton-based Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Co. is announcing plans to open a Lima store in the fall of 2016.

The store, co-anchoring a newly-constructed retail plaza at 435 S. Eastown Rd., will be the company’s fifth location overall, and second corporate store alongside the flagship location in downtown Bluffton.

Co-founder and CEO Pete Suter said the newest location is the result of a history of strong ties between the Shirley’s brand and the Lima community.

Shaw features repurposed items at the R Coop

Jane Shaw has opened a new business in a chicken coop behind her home at 2168 Rd R, Bluffton. The R Coop features lawn, garden and floral items for inside and outside. Most are unique items that Shaw has repurposed. 

The seasonal store hours are Thursday 1-7, Friday 10-5 and Saturday 10-1.

Shaw and her husband, Steve, owned and operated Deer Creek Antiques, Bluffton.

Jazzercise presents new muscle-pumping dance fitness workout

Jazzercise has introduced a new class format to the mix, that’s packed with muscle carving sets and short, intense cardio bursts, according to Chase Eikenbary, local owner and instructor.

The name of this new circuit-based feel-it-everywhere workout is Flip Fusion. It’s where heavy strength training and short cardio bursts collide in a class that works long after the workout is over. It’s designed to pump up muscle, while keeping a consistently high heart rate to maintain calorie burn for hours.
