Letter: Basketball courts at the Buckeye Park

Icon:

Why aren't there lights for the basketball courts at the Buckeye Park? It looks like it is set up to house lights since they have poles and the electrical work inside of the poles but someone took them out.

One way to keep kids out of trouble and healthy is to keep them occupied with activities such as basketball. In the summer and spring it becomes impossible to play basketball when the sun sets even though that is the best time to play.

Why is Harmon Field locked?

Icon:
Why is Harmon Field locked up? The gates should be locked open so people can use the field to walk or whatever. I think people don't know that it was given to the Village of Bluffton and the school took care of it. Seems to me the caretaker has locked out the owner!!!

Letter: Sexual Assault Awareness Month hopes to raise awareness

Icon:

The month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the United States. The goal of Sexual Assault Awareness Month is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.

This April communities across the country are proclaiming "It's time ... to talk about it!" Let's be honest, "it" is not an easy subject to talk about.

Letter: Regarding a public safety matter

James Mehaffie
Village Administrator
Village of Bluffton

Dear Mr. Mehaffie:

I have been to your office and I have talked to you on the phone. I am afraid that I have not communicated effectively. I often have difficulty in face to face conversations. I do not know if I am ill prepared or that it just takes too much time for me to consider the other's response.

Letter: Can we drop this bit of phoniness?

Icon:

In the Lima News lately Fred Steiner mentioned the "phony storefronts, trying to be a village" in towns other than Bluffton. I want to second the challenge to phoniness, by asking our friends right here for real honesty.

I went to our Community Market, whose manager and employees are both helpful and kind, to buy their advertised crab cakes, and hoped for information on a label about ingredients. Would crab be a minor part?
