Elders, family members and staff nominated several Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) employees for LeadingAge Ohio STAR Awards.
With the tagline, “You Make the Difference!” the STAR Awards are presented annually to create a moment of public recognition for front-line, non-management staff who care for our elderly population.

You learn something you didn't know about Bluffton every time you talk with Tom Doty.
The most recent confab took place in his repair shop while talking with Tom and his son, Mike. The topic under discussion was the last half century of the Bluffton auto repair business. It covers lots of miles.

Sydney Goodwin, a Bluffton first grader, has already accomplished something few adults have managed to do.
She helped save someone's life.
Lima Memorial Health System presented Sydney with a Life Saving Award on April 17 to recognize the bravery and courage she displayed during an emergency her grandmother experienced in her presence.
Seven-year-old Sydney sprang into action on Feb. 22, when her grandmother collapsed right before her eyes.
Ada resident diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Six months ago, Tony Adams, Ada resident and a 19-year associate at SRK-Ohio (SumiRiko Ohio), Bluffton, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.
During the last six month he has undergone treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation.
While fighting cancer he has had multiple trips in and out of hospitals combating the side effects of his cancer treatment.
Tony’s treatment plan is on-going for the next two years.
To assist in paying for is astronomical bills, a public event in his support is planned in early May.
