Taxes. It's one of the certainties in life. The 2012 federal income tax return filing season is now fully underway, with the Internal Revenue Service opening the servers to begin accepting and processing electronically filed - e-filed - returns on Jan. 17.

Icon viewers needing specific forms may check out the assortment on display at the Bluffton Public Library.

The IRS wants to be certain that Ohio residents know about their tax preparation and filing options, especially when it comes to e-file and IRS Free File.

Prices for most Postal Service mailing services will change on Sunday, Jan. 22. Mailing services includes First-Class Mail, Standard Mail, Periodicals, Package Services and Extra Services. Prices for shipping services will also change on Jan. 22.

While actual percentage price increases for various products and services varies, the overall average price increase across all mailing services is capped by law at 2.1 percent, the rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index.

The Lima area Habitat for Humanity is moving its ReStore to a new location and can still use volunteers to help with the moving and store set-up process.

The new location is 550 W. Elm St. in Lima.

The ReStore sells overstocked, dis-continued, new and used building materials, furniture, appliances and much more donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals.

Dean Giesige, Bluffton Middle School principal, is on a magazine drive. He's not selling; he's looking for magazine donations.

Giesige told The Icon that the middle school (sixth-seventh-eighth grades) seeks used magazines from residents of the school district.

"We need them to help supplement our reading program," he said. "For example, we'd love to have used Smithsonian, Readers' Digest, National Geographics, even hunting magazines. We're looking for an assortment of subjects."

The Icon spotted this plate on Cherry Street in January. The plate is from Cuyahoga County. Maybe the driver stopped in for a cup of coffee at Common Grounds. Any thoughts on the meaning of the plate?
