Six Blaze parade trophies this year

Six trophies will be presented to winners in the 2015 Blaze of Lights parade. Three new trophies are part of this year's parade. The trophies include, first place best float, second place best float and third place best float. New this year are trophies for parade units other than floats. These include a mayor's trophy, chamber trophy and cultural affairs committee trophy. Junior Weihrauch, parade director, has 75 units signed up so for the the Nov. 28 parade.

Downtown garland goes up on Saturday, Nov. 14

Bluffton fire department members will hang Main Street garland on Saturday, Nov. 14, beginning at 8 a.m., according to Jon Kinn, fire chief.

A rain date is Saturday, Nov. 21. Kinn asks business owners to have garlands in front of their stores by 8 a.m. on the 14th.

A holiday open house from several Bluffton area home-based businesses takes place at the Bluffton Public Library lower level from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12.

The event includes product samples, door prizes and offers customers the option of "cash and carry."

Bluffton council will need to fill Richard Johnson's "vacated" council seat; election results listed

Here is an overview of local races in the Nov. 3 general election. Winners indicated by *. 

Concerning Bluffton village races. David Steiner, who lost the mayor’s race, will retain his council seat.

Richard Johnson and Joseph Sehlhorts are winners of council seats.

Johnson registered to run for council prior to his appointment to council this year. His “appointed” seat will now be vacant. It will be council’s assignment to appoint someone to fill his vacated seat.
