Craft/flower plate open house Saturday

Connie Niese will have  a craft/flower plate open house this weekend.

"There  are lots of beautiful plates for sale," she said. "Add a little bling to your garden, or they make wonderful Mother's Day gifts."

The open house is Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

The sale is at 5450 Hillville Road, Columbus Grove. The sale will be located in the garage.

OHSAA to expand football playoffs and adjust regional format

Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors approved the 2021 football tournament regulations Thursday during its April Board meeting that included proposals from the OHSAA staff to increase the number of playoff qualifiers and change the format of the regional playoffs.

An Amstutz, Neuenschwander, Suter and Luginbuhl connection

This column follows Anna Amstutz, born in Switzerland to Michael Amstutz and Barbara Lehman Amstutz.

Her first husband, Christian Neuenschwander, died at an early age. Anna’s second husband, Johannes Suter, also died at an early age. Anna’s third husband was David C. Luginbuhl. David was married twice before he married Anna.

Anna died at age 41 on April 10, 1858.

Mother Nature's spring joke

Okay, Mother Nature, we get it. You let Jack Frost out to play, but forgot to call him in for supper. Wednesday's five inches or so of snow reminds us of our fragile environment. Despite it all, there's a strange beauty in a scene with white snow on red and pink flowering trees. Jamie Nygaard shares these photos with Icon viewers.

Bluffton elementary school’s spring book fair is virtual this month. The fair begins on Monday, April 26, and continues through Sunday, May 9.
