University students awarded Summer Discovery Grants
Two Bluffton University students are exploring possible future careers this summer with the help of $1,500 Discovery Grants awarded through the university.
Nnenna Onwukeme, a Bluffton junior majoring in business, is volunteering as a business and teacher's assistant at the new De Padua Learning Center in her home city of Jos, Nigeria. She is looking to learn the ins and outs of running a business, including start-up and daily management.
Matt McCoy, a sophomore from Archbold, Ohio, is using his grant to research different fields related to mathematics. He is shadowing and interviewing various professionals-including an architect and an engineer-with the goal of evaluating each to help decide on a major and a career.
This is the ninth year that Summer Discovery Grants have been available to students interested in designing an experience that allows them to creatively explore connections between their faith journeys and vocational discernment. Funding is through the Karl Schultz Discovery Funds, an endowment established through the gift of Bluffton alumnus Karl Schultz.
