Maple Crest Senior Living Community, Bluffton, hosts a fall pie-baking contest, according to Darin Lee of Maple Crest. The contest is Friday, Nov. 1. Persons interested in entering must register by Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Contestants may enter as many different pies as they wish. The contest has three categories: cream, fruit, and nut pies.

Full Sound Chamber Group will perform in concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Ave., Bluffton, according to Rev. Carol Clements, pastor.

The performance is open to the public with no admission charge.

The chamber group iincludes five classically-trained musicians performing on violin, viola, cello, double bass and piano. A free-will offering will be taken.

The performance includes music of Czerny, Hebden, Coates and Lalo.

 

You’d have thought it was 1991. But the players in the bus weren’t even born then.

Thursday evening the Bluffton Junior High football team rode into town like the champions that they are – escorted by fire and police vehicles and followed by lots and lots of cars honking, probably all the way from Columbus Grove.

We interupt this evening's program to bring you the 2013 Northwest Conference Junior High football champs - the Bluffton Pirates. The sirens and belling through town around 7:30 p.m. were fans following the bus from Columbus Grove. Click for a video.

The Nashville band, The Rough and Tumble, performs on the Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, according to Wendy Chappell-Dick.

The Rough & Tumble, consisting of Mallory Graham and Scott Tyler, describe themselves as “two scarecrows in a cornfield, two pairs of hands stealing the same piece of candy, a dust devil that traveled seven states to get to you only to make you cry… The Rough & Tumble are here to lock eyes with you in a crowded room, smile and wink at you.”

Saturday's your last chance. The Bluffton Farmers' Market concludes its 10th annual succesfully run in Bluffton. The market, open from 8:30 a.m. to noon, has its home in the Citizens National Bank parking lot. It will reopen on the first Saturday of May, 2014.
