Despite the overcast day, the sunshine finally came and over 200 people came to Maple Crest on June 6 for its annual fishing derby.

It was a great time of fun, food and fellowship for Maple Crest residents and their families as well as Maple Crest staff and their families. Aaron Siders, husband of Maple Crest's Joy Siders, caught the biggest fish this year - a catfish that was 23 inches long.

The prize for the smallest fish this year went to two people, Lizzie Helser and Stas Maksimov, who tied with each catching a 4 inch fish. 

The Bluffton Relay for Life is Friday and Saturday, June 21-22 at Bluffton University Salzman Stadium. The events begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, and conclude at noon on Saturday.

One of the activities on Friday is a silent auction that begins at 6 p.m. with the bidding closing at 10 p.m. Winning bidders may pick up their items at that time. More details on the auction are below the list of auction items.

The following is a list of the items in the silent auction and a list of people or businesses who have donated items for the auction. 

Bluffton council meets at 8 p.m., Monday, June 8. A light agenda is on council's desk. The council agenda is found in an attachment at the bottom of this story.

May 1
-Police responded to a domestic dispute at a Railroad St. Residence.  
May 3
-Officers located two young juveniles who were walking along N. Main St.  Officers located the juveniles and found that they had run away from home.  Their parents were contacted and the children were returned unharmed. 
May 4
-Police assisted with an unruly patient at the Bluffton Hospital. 

Want a peek into the future of the Motter Metro Park? At Tuesday's public meeting with town officials and interested residents, Patrick J. Beam of Bassett Associates shared several detailed information panels that not only mapped the park as it is now but as it is envisioned into the future. 

And after searching for 25 years for land suitable for a park in this area, it's more than just the Johnny Appleseed Park District that's excited about the plans.

Here’s an architect’s rendering of a proposal for Bluffton’s Motter Metro Park.  This view shows the Riley Creek flood plain from a proposed over look at the park. On Tuesday village officials and interested citizens received an update on the park from the staff of the Johnny Appleseed Park District.
