The Bluffton University softball team kept the bats rolling with wins over Concordia University-Chicago and Geneva at the Rebel Spring Games on Monday, March 4, 2013. The Beavers took care of Corcordia in five innings before dropping 2012 PAC champion Geneva College 6-2 under the lights.

Following the same script they used on Sunday, Bluffton jumped out on top of Concordia with four runs in the opening frame. Katie Clark (New Palestine, Ind.) singled up the middle with two outs to start the rally.

The Bluffton University Beavers powered through their second day in Florida with a doubleheader sweep of the Finlandia University Lions on Monday, March 4, 2013. The Bluffton baseball team convincingly won both games, taking the first, 8-0, and the second, 14-6.

The following are babies born at Bluffton Hospital from Feb. 9 through March 4:

Feb. 9 - Godfrey Rudyard Samuel Bryson McDonnell, son of Bryan and Heather McDonnel, nine pounds and four ounces, 19 and 3/4 inches long.

Feb. 10 - Kylee Jade Arrizola, daughter of Alcario Arrizola and Lisa Stateler, six pounds and four ounces, 19 inches long.

Feb. 11 - Adalyn June Morrison, daughter of Michael and Amand Morrison, five pounds and 12 ounces, 19 inches long.

"The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer," a 1947 movie featuring Cary Grant, will be shown at the Bluffton Public Library at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 7. It is part of a three-part Cary Grant movie series offered this spring at the library.

The movie features Grant, Myrna Loy, Shirey Temple and Rudy Vallee.

The second and third movie dates are April 4 and May 2. Those movies are "My Favorite Wife," and "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House."

The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library will host their fifth annual Spring Tea at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, in the library’s Richland Room. A light meal of homemade foods that are traditionally offered at formal teas will be served prior to a program by Don Bruns.

A former comedian, songster, and entertainer turned novelist, Bruns will bring his wit, guitar, and writer’s stories to the library. His eleventh novel, Hot Stuff, was released in December.

The Bluffton Boy Scout Troop #256 will be conducting a fund raiser on Wednesday March 6, from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m.. 

The fund raiser will be at Burger King in Bluffton, where the Scout Troop will receive a donation of 20% of the sales generated.
