Week of the red buds

As the progression of blooming plants and trees march forward on the spring calendar, our attention turns to the red bud trees. This is their week in the sun in Bluffton. This tree is on Campus Drive.

Imagine COSI on Wheels but entirely focusing on math. That give you an idea of what Math Day is all about.

Bluffton University Early Childhood Education students conducted Math Day for first grade students at Bluffton Elementary on March 21.

The university students are enrolled in a class this semester about how to design math and science curriculum for grades kindergarten to third grade, according to Amy Lehman Mikesell, visiting professor of education at Bluffton University.

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) has launched a new program series titled "Ask the Expert," according to Daren Lee of MHCO.

The program provides adults 55 and over in the greater Bluffton area an opportunity to speak directly to an MHCO nurse and social worker present at each session.

It is also an opportunity for persons of any age looking for counsel on how to help or get assistance for their aging parent, relative or friend. The staff present will offer guidance, counsel and referral for a broad set of topics.

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "The Hunger Games" (PG-13) will be showing at the theatre from March 30 - April 5.

Each evening at 7 and 9:30 PM with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 and 4 PM.

The Bluffton High School class of 1971 will hold its 41 year class reunion on Saturday, June 9, at the Bluffton town hall, 3rd floor. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. with a meal following at 6 p.m. The cost of the meal is $14.00 per person. For reservations or questions, email to, [email protected].
