The Bluffton HS boys' soccer team will collect food and supplies for the Bluffton Food Pantry at Steinmetz soccer field on Thursday, Oct. 11.
The collection takes place during the JV and varsity games against Allen East.
The JV game starts at 4:50 p.m. and the varsity game is at 7 pm. The Bluffton Food Pantry, located in the basement of St. John’s United Church of Christ, regularly serves over 50 families in the Bluffton area.
Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce's October breakfast meeting on Friday features a program by Leslie Barnes of A to Z Meats and Ashley Klingler of The Centre at Bluffton in a panel discussion, according to Paula Scott, chamber CEO.
"Food truck quality and reach is growing," said Scott. "Our panel members will discuss bringing food truck services to Bluffton and what they see in the future from this business model."

Nearly 10 decades ago, these youngsters performed as the Sunbeam Band under the sponsorship of the Bluffton Lutheran Church.
Although members of the band were drawn from all denominations, the Lutherans sponsored the band because leader Turley Rupright was a member of that congregation.

Bluffton's newest business, The Frosting Studio, wants you to be ready for Halloween.
"Join us in our Hallween cupcake workshop," says Debra Stockford, shop owner. "You'll take home a Halloween cupcake 6-pack when the workshop is completed."
Stockford said the workshops are Saturday, Oct. 20, and Oct. 27, at her business location, 142 E. Jefferson St., Bluffton - located in Tommy Plaza.

Bluffton University’s mathematics department will host its annual math competition for high school students on Saturday, Nov. 3, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.
The test consists of short-answer questions covering high school math topics through pre-calculus. Fifteen cash prizes will be awarded, and test scores of seniors considering attending Bluffton may be used to award renewable scholarships of up to $1,000 per year. Scholarship awards will be offered by January 2019.
