Sophomore Stephan Kosakowski (Cleveland/Benedictine) and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on defense.

Eric Faulkner, EVP Management for Citizens National Bank, received a diploma on Aug. 10, at commencement exercises during the 74th annual session of the  Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Faulkner also received a Certificate of Executive Leadership from the Wisconsin School of Business Center for Professional and Executive Development for completing the rigorous GSB leadership curriculum.

In addition he served as a class officer, where he was recognized by his classmates for his leadership skills.

She was band director, choir director, taught us to play instruments and was Lima Symphony oboist

Jo Souder – make that Miss Souder – taught me to play the trombone in the fifth grade. In BHS band director years it was seven, maybe eight directors ago.

I thought that learning a musical instrument would be difficult, but it wasn’t and, despite what my older brother warned me about her, he was incorrect.  She wasn’t a scary as he made her out to be.

Here’s some important background information on the Shannon Cemetery that needs to be considered prior to council making a decision on how to proceed with cemetery plan.

Cause for concern
A small group has brought forth a second-hand “grid,” which supposedly locates many original graves for the purpose of putting back many gravestones throughout the Shannon Cemetery on Jefferson Street.

Our own volunteers have asked this group for a copy of this authentic grid, but have yet to receive it.

We warned you. Does goldenrod make you sneeze or make your eyes itch? It's the season for this otherwise, rather attractive, bright yellow weed scattered around Bluffton. We understand it does, however, despite its nastiness, lend itself nicely to fall flower arrangements.

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) breakfast meetings resumed on Sept. 14, with a presentation by Bluffton High School biology teacher Scott Hoff on the Ocean Focus class and field experience in the Florida Keys.

Hoff showed how students learn fundamental aspects of marine science as well as discover what they can do to improve the health of our oceans.
