Hoping for Mister Carroll’s presence, for days prior to Thanksgiving lines from “Oh, oysters come and walk with us… along the briny beach”… chanted frequently around our cheery home.

Bluffton University will present its 119th performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, in Founders Hall. The event is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be taken.
Dr. Mark J. Suderman, professor of music and director of choral activities at the university, will conduct the oratorio for the 13thtime at Bluffton, where he has taught since 2000. The 20-member orchestra includes faculty and community members, while students, faculty, staff and community members comprise the 66-voice chorus.
BFR Sports & Fitness is conducting a used shoe collection drive Dec. 1 through Jan. 31.
The project helps raise operating funds while benefiting microenterprise ventures in developing nations and keeping old shoes out of local landfills, according to Carole Enneking of BFR.
People can droppoff used shoes at the BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.
