BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin-Wallace Yellow Jackets used a big first half to open up their 2014 season on a high note, beating the Bluffton University Beavers 32-20 on Saturday, Sept. 13, in Berea. The home team was able to notch the victory thanks to a 19-0 halftime advantage. The Beavers fell to 0-2 on the season heading into HCAC play after a bye week.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - A goal with one second to play in the first half stunned the crowd, but the Bluffton University men's soccer team was unfazed as the home team scored two late goals to overcome the 3-2 halftime deficit. Bluffton picked up its first win of the season (1-4), while Marietta fell to 2-2 on the season.
WOOSTER, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team began the morning with a solid win against Muskingum University. The first set was a tight battle with the Beavers losing to the Muskies by two, 25-23. Bluffton took the next three sets to win the match convincingly (25-16, 25-21, and 25-19).
WOOSTER, Ohio - The Beavers came out ready to redeem themselves following their first and only setback of the season on Wednesday. Bluffton started off the Wooster Kilt Classic Tournament facing Oberlin College. The Beavers won the first set 25-19 and then made a statement, drubbing the Yeowomen 25-13 and 25-11 to finish the match in three.
Isabelle May West, 97, died on Sept. 10, 2014, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio.
She was born in Hancock County, Ohio on March 25, 1917, to the late G. Raymond and Mabel (Hamlin) Stewart. She married James F. West on May 20, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1999.
