Jeff Slattery has been named executive director of Richland Manor Health Campus, 7400 Swaney Road, Bluffton.

Most recently, he was administrator for a 63-bed facility in Hicksville. In this role, he was instrumental in revitalizing the facility, including re-establishing positive relationships with community members and state regulators, and recruiting campus team members to assist him in this transformation.

The community has an opportunity to met Slattery during Richland Manor's family night celebration. It is at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19, at Richland Manor.

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 presented checks to 11 area organizations on Sept. 9. The Legion raised $6,000 in its June golf outing to help support these groups. From left, Ed Yeager, Community Assistance Program, Dr. Darrell Groman, Boy Scouts, Mike Metzger, Boy Scouts, Amanda Stechschulte, Girl Scouts, Erinn Prater, Bluffton Diamond Sports, and legion members, Dennis Morrison, Sam Reineke, Fred Arnold and Jerry Cupples. Allen East girls stopped Bluffton 4-2 earlier this week in NWC soccer action at Lafayette.

Freshman Anna Hairston (Mansfield/Ontario) was recently named the Heartland Conference Female Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Queen City Invitational on Friday, Sept. 9.

Hairston, who is relatively new to the sport in only her second year, set the mark for the fastest 5k all-time at Bluffton University. She finished with a time of 19:37 in a very competitive women's field, good enough for 40th among 148 total runners at the Queen City Invitational in Cincinnati. She was the highest-placing non-scholarship athlete on the women's side.
