April 1
-A Railroad Street resident reported unknown persons had caused damage to his vehicle.  
April 3
-Police responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the 9000 block of N. Dixie Hwy.  Hannah Bell, 16, Bluffton was cited for Improper Starting and Backing.  The case is pending in Allen County Juvenile Court. 
April 6
-A N. Jackson St. resident reported that a white truck pulling a red trailer had driven into his yard and caused damage to his landscaping.

If you look closely you can identify almost every singer in this photo. It is the youth choir of the First Mennonite Church, with Earl Lehman conducting. The photo was taken in Founders Hall during the 1961 Bluffton centennial pageant. 

The youth in the photo today range from approximately 58 to 63 years old. Leland Gerber took the photo.

The Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center (BVRCC) has added new equipment to aide in the fight against cancer. The new cancer treatment system, called TrueBeam™, offers advanced radiation therapy for some of the most complex cancers.

The TrueBeam system is designed to deliver more powerful cancer treatments with accuracy and precision. In addition, the system integrates new imaging technologies to complete treatments more quickly while monitoring the motion of tumors.

Morgan Schroeder is the first graduate of Bluffton University’s accounting program to benefit from a new Bluffton partnership with Bowling Green State University’s master of accountancy degree program.

The Columbus Grove, Ohio, resident, who earned her Bluffton bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration on May 5, has received a full scholarship to the Bowling Green master’s program. The new “Beaver-Falcon MAcc Scholarship” includes a full-tuition award plus a paid graduate assistantship.

A pair of Bluffton University sophomores were recently named First Team All-Heartland Conference for their outstanding play on the diamond this spring. Katie Clark (New Palestine, Ind.) and Ariana Muffo (New Athens, Ill.) led Bluffton to its seventh straight HCAC tournament appearance in 2013.

Picking up Second Team All-HCAC honors were junior Shelby Erford (Paulding) and freshman Ashley Knippen (Wapakoneta), while sophomore Brittany Baker (Springboro) was an honorable mention selection.

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for  households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District. 

The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four.

In order to pick up a box, you must register by calling 419-384-3038 by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 20.

Boxes will be available for pickup on Saturday, May 25 at 11 a.m. at the Grace Mennonite Church located at 502 East Main St., Pandora.
