Accounting alumna earns full graduate scholarship to BGSU
Morgan Schroeder is the first graduate of Bluffton University’s accounting program to benefit from a new Bluffton partnership with Bowling Green State University’s master of accountancy degree program.
The Columbus Grove, Ohio, resident, who earned her Bluffton bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration on May 5, has received a full scholarship to the Bowling Green master’s program. The new “Beaver-Falcon MAcc Scholarship” includes a full-tuition award plus a paid graduate assistantship.
The partnership provides that Bluffton may select an accounting graduate to receive the scholarship each year. “Morgan is a great student and is very ambitious,” noted Dr. Jason Swartzlander, an assistant professor of accounting, about Bluffton’s first choice. “She finished the program in three years and performed exceptionally well. She typifies the kind of student that graduate programs want in their program.”
The chosen Bluffton student may specialize in any of three tracks of study at Bowling Green: accounting/auditing, information systems auditing and control, or taxation. Graduate assistantship work can be completed in the areas of research, teaching or general program support.
In addition to developing specialized skills, students who complete the Bowling Green master’s program will have the 150 hours of study required to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam.
“We feel this relationship is a great opportunity for our current and prospective students,” Swartzlander said. “We are grateful to BGSU for this opportunity and its recognition of the excellence and scholarly aptitude of Bluffton graduates.”
