The Bluffton University softball team lost both games at Anderson University on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. The Beavers fell to 15-13 overall and 7-3 in the Heartland Conference.

Apollo Career Center Superintendent Judy Wells is making sure Lima will be front and center this Friday, April 12, when she travels to Columbus, Ohio for The Ohio Jobs and Workforce Development Summit.

Wells will speak about workforce development in our region and how Apollo Career Center and career technical education has been responsive to industry needs; forging innovative partnerships with business and industry.

The Bluffton University baseball team mounted an offensive explosion on Tuesday, April 9, routing conference opponent Earlham College by a score of 13-5. The Beavers let an early 6-0 lead shrink to just one, but added six more tallies on in the sixth en route to the victory.

Ground was broken on April 10 for four independent living duplex units on Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio's Maple Crest campus. Details are in the story below.

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) began a six-month construction project at the Maple Crest campus’s Crimson Maple Court cul-de-sac on April 10.

The $850,000 project will create four new independent living duplex units.  Each unit has a different floor plan and range from 1,617- 1,820 square feet.  Floor plans vary between two and three bedroom floor plans, but all include cathedral ceilings in the great room, a utility room, kitchen (including all appliances), two baths and a two-car garage. 

Bluffton Fire Department responded to a call to the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center on Monday evening.  The department was on the scene for about 60 minutes. The Icon does not have information at this time about the alarm. (Reema Bazzy photo)
