DOLA__The visiting Bluffton High School baseball team rallied late but came up short 6-4 to tough non-conference foe Hardin Northern on a hot Thursday evening, May 15.

The Pirates fell behind 5-0 early. Each team plated a run in the fifth to maintain the HN lead at 6-1. Bluffton came back to tally three runs in the top of the seventh, but their final at-bat rally came up short.

The Pirates dropped to 11-12 overall with the defeat. The Polar Bears improved to 15-4-1 after the victory.

Game resumes Thursday at 5 p.m.

OTTAWA - The visiting Bluffton High School girls softball team led Ottawa-Glandorf 6-4 in the Div. V sectional finals when play was suspended in the bottom of the sixth inning by bad weather on Wednesday, May 14.

Fifth-seeded O-G was batting with two out and the bases loaded in the home sixth when rain stopped play.

The game will resume Thursday at 5 p.m.

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton Pirate baseball team nipped visiting Northwest Conference foe Spencerville 4-3 Wednesday evening, May 14.

Bluffton scored two runs in the bottom of the first, but the Bearcats tied it 2-2 after two frames. The Pirates inched ahead with a run in the home third, yet the visitors tied it 3-3 in the fourth.

Bluffton pushed across the tiebreaking run in the bottom of the sixth to win it, 4-3.
