"It's a small world!" That well-known sentiment was proven true, once again, as Maple Crest, Bluffton, residents gathered for an organ hymn sing with Janice Shields.
Shields had barely been introduced when she realized that one of the residents had been her neighbor and school mate when they were children in Columbus Grove.
She stated her maiden name, Bryan, and immediately Jack McCullough remembered her, and jumped into a lively conversation with her, teasing her with the comment "You got older!"
Bluffton's next American Red Cross blood drive is Thursday, Aug. 2, from noon until 6 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in the Large Room, located at 160 N. Spring St.

Krysti's Music Studio students present their annual performathon fundraiser for Bluffton-Pandora Campus Life/YFC later this month, according to Krysti Schey.
The event is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Bluffton Campus Life building, 111 W. College Ave., Bluffton. Persons attending may come and go as they like.
Who doesn't like a parade? The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce Blaze of Lights Committee invites Icon viewers, area businesseses, churches, service organizations, to consider entering this year's Blaze of Lights parade.
Over 200 parade invitations are going out this week to area organizations, according to Junior Weihrauch of Arlington, the Blaze parade chairperson. Last year's parade had nearly 85 entries. Weihrauch says that he hopes for a 100-unit parade this year.
This year's Blaze theme is "A Victorian Christmas."
