To help answer questions in advance about the upcoming season at the Bluffton Community Pool 201 Snider Rd., manager Jennifer Wilson shared the following information with the Icon and on Facebook:

1. Our opening date is set for Saturday, May 27. I will update our page for that as we get closer!

May 20-21 is the Bluffton Soccer Clubs tournament for U12 & U15 divisions.

Money raised from this tournament goes to support the entire club (recreation and travel teams) for field maintenance and equipment replacement (nets, balls, goals).

The Village of Arlington is hosting its second annual Spring Shoptacular on Friday, May 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

There will be 45+ vendors, 7 food trucks including specialty trucks like dessert, coffee, and nuts. There are also more than 30 homes participating in Village Garage Salescheduled for the same days, May 19 and 20.

Bluffton University baseball skipper James Grandey has been named the Heartland Conference Coach of the Year after guiding the Beavers to a 3rd place finish in the HCAC. Also recognized by the Heartland Conference were seniors Jaden Jaques (New Palestine, Ind.) and Jake Baumgartner (Toledo/Start) who notched first team honors. Fellow senior Jack Towell (Batavia/West Clermont) collected Second Team All-HCAC recognition while sophomore Justin Maurer (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) earned Honorable Mention acclaim.

The Bluffton University baseball team equaled the 2023 school record of 22 victories. Bluffton finished its Heartland Conference slate with a 14-8 mark, giving the Beavers a school-record .636 winning percentage in HCAC contests. The 14-8 mark sent Bluffton into the HCAC Tournament with a Bluffton-best #3 seed after wrapping up the regular season with a 22-16 mark overall. Coach Grandey pushed his team to a 3rd-place finish despite entering the season tabbed 7th in the coaches' poll! He also notched career victory #300 against Alvernia in Florida on March 7.

DELPHOS–Two Bluffton High School players were named second team All-Northwest Conference for softball in voting conducted by the league coaches Tuesday evening in Delphos, Ohio.

Pirate senior hurler Hannah Davis was voted second team all-league. She pitched nine of the 10 Bluffton wins.

Junior slugger Lauren Bassett was named to the second team as well after leading the Pirates in home runs and doubles.

Speedy Bluffton junior leadoff hitter Ashley Fleece and classmate Olivia Matthews were voted honorable mention all-league.
