The Village of Bluffton has announced that the council Personnel Committee will meet Friday, September 17, at noon at the Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

Bluffton University has once again been named to the top tier of Midwest “regional colleges” in the “U.S. News & World Report” rankings released today.

The 2022 edition of the magazine’s “Best Colleges” guidebook ranks Bluffton 31 among 76 comparable institutions in 12 Midwest states. Now listed in the “U.S. News” rankings for 24 consecutive years, Bluffton has consistently ranked in the top tier of Midwest colleges.

Dr. Alan and Diann Yoder will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on September 17, 2021. Dr. Alan and the former Diann Habegger were married by the Rev. John Sprunger at First Mennonite Church in Berne, Indiana on September 17, 1961.

The couple has two children, Dr. Mark (Julie) Yoder and Michael (Rebecca) Yoder. They have 6 grandchildren: Paul in Los Angeles, California; David (Anna) in Muncie, Indiana; Rachel (Nathan) West in Memphis, Tennessee; Austin (Samantha) in Indianapolis, Indiana; Alec in Columbus, Ohio and Ashlyn in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Patterson family gathered to present to Village council and Mayor Richard Johnson an 1850s American flag made in Bluffton by Margaret Jane Hammond Patterson, wife of Bluffton's 13th mayor, James Patterson.

The Village of Bluffton council meeting of September 13, 2021 included an historical gift to the village, proposed parking restrictions on a section of Lawn Avenue, sponsor naming rights for village park features, updated preliminary plans for the proposed Chestnut Lane subdivision, town hall clock repairs, and commendations for Office Eric Rayle.
