Baptist live nativity

The Bluffton Baptist Church's 26-year Christmas tradition of holding a live nativity continues on Friday, Dec. 11. The nativity, located in the church parking lot at 345 County Line Road, may be viewed from 7 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 11. One final viewing will be Saturday, Dec. 19. This photo was from the Blaze night show.

Hostetler wall hanging

Marty Hostetler created this manger scene applique on a batik background wall hanging, which is part of the First Mennonite Church "come to the nativity" exhibit.

Over 304 nativity sets from 40 members of the congregation are on exhibit in the church Fellowship Hall. Friday, Dec. 11, is the final day of the show.

The exhibit inlcudes nativity tree ornaments, nativity scenes, wall hangings and a wind chime and mobile. Nativity sets are from around the globe. Some were created by members of the congregation.

As a benefit, proceeds will go to a Lima-based program called "Drugs Bring Death." The program started with one man carrying a sign with those words.

Hi Fred,

I highly doubt you remember me, but I was a classmate of yours at one time. Having moved from Bluffton when I was going into the sixth grade, I have always considered Bluffton my home and think of it fondly.

My sister still lives in Bluffton as does her son's family. I just happened to stumble across the Icon on Facebook and am thoroughly enjoying the site. I make it back to Bluffton from time to time, usually on Saturday after Thanksgiving for the parade and Thanksgiving with my family.

We know some of the meaning of this plate. It belongs to Kathy Burkholder, who happened to a a registered nurse.

We'll print your letter to Santa. Here's how it works: Drop off your letter in the special box in the Bluffton Post Office lobby. The post office delivers the letter to The Icon. We print it. We then give the letter to the elves at the Bluffton Senior Citizen Center. Please provide a clear mailing address, and you will receive a response from Santa.
