Volunteers at Maple Crest

Volunteers are busy swinging their hammers to remodel two garage bays at Maple Crest Senior Living Village and turn them into a woodworking shop.

It kind of resembles an old fashion "barn raising" that the Amish and Mennonites are famous for. Although the shell and roof were already in place, there was much to do.

Recently volunteers under the direction of the Cal Reese, the volunteer general contractor of the project, began the refashioning of the space.

If you have a green thumb, enjoy growing flowers, or want to try your hand at an arrangement, you are encouraged to enter the third annual Mennonite Memorial Home flower show. This year's event is Saturday, Sept. 24.

Cash prizes will be offered.

There are two categories and themes for the Creative Division:

Theme (1a) is "October Splendor." It includes any fresh floral either purchased or from your garden.
